Professional
Louisiana Association for College Composition Conference-- I will be giving two presentations for the LACC Conference in Lafayette, Louisiana March 17-19. I will give a poetry reading from a series of poems, "The Poetics of Living in Another Language," that focus on living abroad, particularly in Japan, Korea, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates. I will also present a paper, "What You Know or What You Should Know: Authority for 'Poor' Writers in Freshman Composition," that focuses on the different approaches two "poor" writers from disadvantaged backgrounds take in their attempts to create authority in their compositions.
Louisiana Conference on Literature, Language and Culture-- I will be attending the upcoming conference in Lafayette, Louisiana March 31st. My presentation draws from a multi-genre piece "Belonging/Not: A Journey to a Diasporic Identity," that explores my intellectual and physical journey to identify and embrace foreignness, while still being true to my American identity. It explores how the desire to understand the belonging/not belonging split informed decisions to spend 15 years living as a resident alien in the United Arab Emirates, Japan and Korea; compelled me to live in the Philippines in order to connect with a lost heritage; pushed me to a poetry that explores place and dislocation; and informs my visual ethnography work on a small Filipino community in Slidell, Louisiana.

Technology
I am engaged in exploring how technology can be used to enhance instruction. I have developed numerous activities and exercises for EFL students which I bring together in a portal at greenducks.com. I designed and wrote the code for the exercises, as well as most of the content.
